It's a wallpaper with "other" theme based on a poll I had a few months ago.
1600X1200 pixel available for personal usage only
I made petals from scratch with polygons and painted directly on 3D CG (using Bodypaint within Cinema 4D) to improve on texture skills. I haven't made stuff from polygons before since whenever I tried, I failed (but not this time!). I added the wireframe and outlines I created from the same 3D CG model using cel render top and bottom of this graphic.
I liked how it looks almost like rocks- petrified flowers perhaps?
a practice before this (where I didn't make from polygon) I did a few days ago:
Cinema 4D R11 studio (modeling, painting, rendering) Photoshop CS3 (editing) ~3 nights (rendering took ~1 hour with Global Illumination)
Wth, that's really amazing. I'm really impressed! The colouring of the tulips is gorgeous, I have to agree with Narutokunobessed, they look like a traditional painting. I also like the juxtaposition of the sketchy, paper-like background and the detailed finished flowers. Is the colour a render you did in Photoshop or did you make that in 3D CG?
I did coloring directly in Cinema 4D. I didn't do much of it before since I am often make 3D models with a computer with mouse and not tablet... in addition to the fact that I often forgot the existence of painting feature (bodypaint) in 3D software I have.... oops...
I adjusted overall colors in the end in Photoshop but painting part is done in Cinema4D without color adjustments or filters.
the colours are nice and soft^^ they look like theyre crystal flowers glistening in waterXD!!
It's fun to do something totally different.
Next one will probably something less soft for change
or so I'm planning to. It never goes the way I want these days
i love watercolor like tone and finish.
I used similar transparency/alpha like the practice, but didn't use black in the background.
なんで今までめんどくさくてしてなかったのだろう。。。と思いました。

I see, I never know that 3D programs offer painting options. o.o
