TLOF Chapter 3, p.6-7 by Waterdroplet-s TLOF Chapter 3, p.6-7 by Waterdroplet-s
p.5 English(英語) or Japanese(日本語)
p.8 Japanese(日本語) or English(英語)

Finally... p.6-7 of Ch.3. This took me ages...

I incorporated 3D CG for the first time into my manga. After three days of trying to draw buildings and not turning out the way I wanted, I decided to create background using Cinema 4D. This background is a result of 4 hours on Cinema 4D, creating landscapes and buildings. I will create windows later on, but since this is fantasy setting, just think of this as a windowless city. I just rendered outline of this 3D CG with Sketch&Toon module (using it for the first time) and added shadows, trees, vines, petals, and character later in Comic Studio for the last two-three days. I think that took the longest.

Yeah, it might not be a scene that someone would remember for a lifetime, but this is the best I could do now with a city. However, cherry blossoms started blooming a couple of days ago in Japan, so I guess this is the right timing to create this scenery.

...

On second look, it looks like a huge bonsai. :XD:

Softwares used:
Cinema 4D R11 studio
Comic Studio Ex 4.0
Photoshop CS2

Time it took:
6 days

On second thoughts, I think you're right. :XD:

I might change just the script to make it flow. So, the content may change quite a lot within the next few days.- esp. last 4 pages.

I guess this happens when I produce page per page over weeks rather than continuously.

I feel for you - I have a lot of problems with my page flow as well =_=. It's probably the thing with which I have most problems (ecxept backgrounds, maybe).
Gambate! :#1:

Thanks :)

The problem is that I think too much- lol

I have trouble making stories simpler and coherent. So, it's really helpful for someone like you who is kind enough to point out where to improve :orange:

Always welcome :glomp:.

Aren't we all ^^;. Earlier I was unable to draw because of that, since every time I started drawing I started to think about my miserable life and got into depression, which led me to don't want to do anything at all except, maybe, movie watching.

You don't have to make stories simple (unless you want to do somthing very short or something for younger children), but yeah - coherence is a big plus. It's kinda annoying when you can't understand what's happening only because it's the way how manga is drawn.

Or "evil" enough XDD. I was really hesitant if I should write it here or not - a lot of people get really offended when I do stuff like that :o. And besides my drawing skills are, probably, worse than yours, that stops me from commenting too ^^;. You kinda get a feeling that you have bigger chance to get an offensive response if artist is better than you ^^;.

No, I think your drawing skills are good.

Well, I'm open to any comments/questions as long as they are not too personal. It is helpful though when people not only criticize me but gives me a tip on where to improve. It's because just like what you did for me about this chapter, I wouldn't know myself about where're good and bad parts about my work unless others point them out to me. So I guess people get frustrated with that- not toward people who criticized certain parts of artworks- but because they don't know where to improve.

Coherence is a major part I have to improve and I usually try to create simpler manga for contests, but TLOF is kinda difficult. Since I want to know where I'm improving, I'm continuing the chapter. However, since the first chapter was rather confusing, fixing that up is pretty hard- lol but I'm trying.

Maybe, they are... But I can't make poses in perspective and I make a lot of mistakes, when I draw =_=. Which I keep correcting... which eats up most of my drawing time... which leds to my loss of desire to finish this drawing =_=. My poses are stiff and I can't do vigorous movements V.V. I sha'll correct this stuff with loads of practice! :3

That's good - it helps to improove quicker ^^. But sometimes you just don't know how it should be corrected...

Yeah, that's tough... Now to think... Is there any some kind of tutorials or just tips about it somewhere on the net...? :o

I have trouble doing perspective drawing as well- so I resulted in using 3D CG for background :p

... sorry I don't know but I think you'll find them if you just type in "perspective drawing" or "perspective manga" in google
